Nerfgames goes toCGJ!!!

January 26, 2012

We are please to announce that us here at NerfGames will be attending the the upcoming Global Game Jam event at Nottingham Hackspace this weekend! If you have any interest or experience developing games we really recommend that you check out the GGJ site (http://globalgamejam.org/) and see if there are any participating sites near you!
Also if your one of those creative types and live around the Nottingham area and get that sudden uncontrollable urge to make something you should take a look at the Nottingham Hackspace (http://nottinghack.org.uk/) where you can make anything from jumpers to robotics!
Now begins the process of stacking up on unmarked energy drinks (Relentless devotion we’re looking at you...)

GameCity 6: A week to remember

October 31, 2011

October is always a fun month for us here at NerfGames, with university starting up again, deadlines to meet, oh and GameCity to top it off!
For anyone who has never attended GameCity, the experience can be a little odd to say the least. Nottingham, in particular the market square, is taken over by the massive GameCity tent in a 5 day long celebration of video games! During the event independent game developers are more than welcome to come and show off their games to the general public, as well as listen to talks relating to the plethora of different aspects of video game development and the industry as a whole.
For more information of GameCity please feel free to visit GameCity.org and check them out!
For the past two years now the NerfGames team has helped manage the GameCity main floor making sure that exhibitors are happy and that equipment gets to where it needs to be. At the same time this allows us to interact with our potential player-base to get direct feedback on our games and what they’d like to see changed or added to our games.
GameCity 6 was a great week for the team and we’d like to thank the GameCity staff for putting up with us, the event security for putting up with Tim and Nottingham Trent DevSoc for all their help.

Avoid Android : The people have spoken!

October 25, 2011

It’s been a few weeks since our Avoid for Android release and we’ve been seeing a steady stream of positive and constructive feedback from both individual users and the press regarding our newborn title. The team is hard at work as we speak fixing some handset specific bugs and working on new content for our Avoid Elite customers!
Here’s what the critics have to say:

Avoid released on Android!

October 20, 2011

We are pleased to announce that our first title, Avoid, has now been released onto the Android Marketplace! Avoid is a throwback to arcade games of old where you can simply pick up and play, have a good laugh then put it down without needing to spend hours before you become competent with the controls! The Principle for Avoid is simple, it’s a manic game of survival where it’s your job to weave around an endless onslaught of incoming blocks, the longer you survive the higher you score!
As it stands you can pick up either the Free or Elite versions off the marketplace, Avoid Elite gets you an extra game mode compared to our free version and all future Avoid android content for free, all for the low price of £0.50!!!
